Biography
Dr. Veisi received his BSc in computer engineering from Shiraz University and his MSc and PhD from Sharif University of Technology in 2003, 2005 and 2011. His research programme is "Signal and data processing with pattern-recognition methods"; he founded and directs the Data and Signal Processing Laboratory and leads the interdisciplinary Computational Linguistics programme.
He has published 34 journal and 40 conference papers, translated three reference textbooks (Artificial Neural Networks, Speech Processing, Natural Language Processing), holds three patents and has supervised 63 graduate students. His mentoring led to three spin-offs (Zanapardaz, Khana and Asosoft for Kurdish language processing); he co-founded Asr Gooyesh Pardaz, the first Persian speech-processing company, and heads R&D at Sepid System Sharif in biometrics.
He has also served as scientific deputy of the Dehkhoda Lexicon Institute and the International Center for Persian Studies at the University of Tehran.
